Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
We certainly are living in crazy times at the moment and its unsettling for all of us. We recognise the new government mandate issued this week regarding the Carona Virus to discontinue group meetings of more than 100. Your safety is our main priority so this means for the time being, meeting together for church on Sundays as we always have will have to stop. This is certainly unprecedented and throws us into unexplored territory that raises many questions. How do we do church moving forward? What would it look like? Will we do anything at all?
As much as we care deeply about your safety, we also care deeply about your spiritual growth. Even given the tough constraints thrust upon us, Creekside still has a responsibility to each of you to continue building into your lives in ways that will help you to grow in your daily walk with Jesus.
As a result, we’ve decided that we need to offer everyone in our church family the opportunity to engage in some form of ongoing regular participation in the Word & Worship of God. As a result, we have come up with a way that we think we can achieve this even if its in a more limited form that we are used to. We feel like we are in an impossible situation because there’s simply no perfect solution in this sort of situation, so we plead with you for your understanding, patience and grace as we move ahead in these uncertain times.
So, here’s what we’ve come up with. A church service of sorts will be made available to every family to experience in their homes. The service will be a shortened version in video format that can easily be accessed via the internet by clicking a link in an email that will be sent to you each week. The video service can be viewed on a computer, tablet or smart TV preferably on a Sunday morning in keeping with our usual practice. You can expect personal words of encouragement, teaching, a little music and opportunity for prayer & worshipful reflection. Down the track a little we plan to include something for our kids as well. Naturally, as we go along and reflect on and review each week, we can make improvements to the content.
I hope that you will support these efforts by deciding as a family to commit to participating in this very different approach to doing church each week. In the meantime, lets also commit to a season of concentrated prayer to Jesus who remains Lord over all things. Jesus hasn’t changed one little bit in His commitment to continue building his church which includes our little church family at Creekside and he hasn’t changed His personal commitment to you either.
Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.
Blessings in Christ to you and your families!
